Button all buttons on clothing and turn garment inside out before putting into the washing machine.  Fewer buttons will fall off and garments will fade less.

For fresh spills, mix an egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of warm water, and rub this mixture into the coffee stain with a sponge.  If the stain has set, add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the egg and water.

Do not worry about spilled wine on table lines.  Here is a tip to remove red wine from table linens.  Wet the area with tepid water, douse with table salt, rub and let sit for five minutes.  Then drench with boiling water.

washables:  using an eyedropper, flush with white vinegar to remove color.  For sugar, flush with water.  For milk, follow up with combination solvent.

non-washables: dab with white vinegar to remove color.  For sugar, flush with water.  For milk, follow up with oil solvent.
