After any water damage situation, your primary focus should be safety first:

  • Is it safe to stay in the house?

     

  • Electrical and “slip and fall” hazards are some of the most prevalent concerns.

     

  • Only do activities that are safe for you to perform.

     

  • Wet materials can be VERY heavy. Be careful!

Tips to remove wall paper

An easy way to remove wall paper is to mist water on the area you want to remove.  Let the water soak up for 5-10 minutes.  Using a plastic paint scraper, start lifting the wall paper at the seam.  You may need to mist more water and let it sit to start the removal process.  Keep misting as you go, and the wall paper should peel off.   If the wall paper was installed decades ago, the process to remove it may be more difficult and a wall paper solution may need to be purchased.
