Whiten your teeth with common household ingredients

An alternative of purchasing teeth whitening products, you can use common household products to achieve the same results.  Mix 1/2 teaspoon baking soda with 1 or 2 drops peroxide.  Brush on mixture, let sit for a few minutes, then rinse.  Your smile should look whiter. 

NOTE: do not swallow this mixture

restore shine to “dingy” teeth

Dip a wet toothbrush into 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and sprinkle with up to 1/8 teaspoon salt.  Brush your teeth and rinse.  Your smile will be shinier with this.

NOTE: Not advised if you are on a low or no salt diet.

floss your teeth daily

To prevent costly dental visits, it is a good practice to floss your teeth daily.  It is best to floss at night time.  Flossing will remove any food debris that your toothbrush does not and prevent plaque build-up which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.  Good oral hygene contributes to your overall well being.  Studies have shown that bad oral hygiene has led to gum disease, heart disease and other detrimental health problems.

tooth ache

to temporarily relieve pain, apply ice compress.  ice acts as an anesthesia and will ‘hide’ the pain for you to get some relief.  This is good for tooth aches due to root canals or other causes
